Snow, Terrain & Weather Forecasts

BC is known for its challenging heli ski and cat ski terrain, but there are some gentler slopes as well. Ski alpine glaciers, open bowls, tree-lined glades, chutes, steeps and couloirs.

Annual snowfall in BC ranges from 10.5m/35ft on the west coast to a substantial 15m/50ft in the eastern Kootenay Rockies. Depending on the time of year, climate, and mountains, snow conditions can vary from knee-deep champagne powder to effortless, velvety corn snow. Ski season generally begins in mid-November and can last until late spring. While most people like to book prime season in January and February, the prices are the highest and lodges the busiest then.

We like to suggest ‘Early Season’ as December traditionally sees some huge snowfalls with fresh deep Powder in the treed runs. We also recommend ‘Late Season’ from mid-March through early April. The weather is warmer and sunnier, days longer and you get tons of open Bowl skiing and boarding. Both Early and Late Season offer the best discounts due to less demand. But don’t be scared, it is usually worth the extra savings to take advantage of these times.
